Instructors: 2. Julie BraggIn 1975 I learned how to quilt at my church quilters group in Iowa. We met once a week from 9-4, brought a sack lunch and quilted other women's tops to earn money for different church projects. My first two projects were baby quilts for our two children, Jennifer and Andrew. In 1978 my husband Dave and I move our family back to his home town, Wellington, Oh, home of the famous artist Archibald Willard who painted the "Spirit of '76" for the 1876 centennial celebration. I then made my first appliquéd quilt for our new home and have been quilting ever since. I love to hand quilt and appliqué. Traditional and reproduction antique quilts are my favorite quilting projects. For sixteen years I designed and help coordinate the annual raffle quilt made by Wellington Woman's League as a fund raiser. In 1995 I joined Lorain County Piecemakers quilt guild and have enjoyed meeting other quilters who love quilts as much as I do. I started my pattern company in 2000 and now have eleven patterns featured on my website, http://www.spiritof76quilts.com/ . Researching old traditional patterns and incorporating ideals from them into my own quilt designs is what I enjoy most. I've taught at the NEORQC Get-A-Way for the last three years and my most recent highlight is looking forward to being published in the summer issue of "Quilt" magazine. Being a three year breast cancer survivor I've tried to prioritize my commitments and quilting projects in order to enjoy life to the fullest.
