Debbie Lee of Rockville, South Carolina

I am a Longarm Quilter since 1995. I adore sewing and do all my quilting by machine (on my Bernina and Millennium). With the upsurge of Longarm machines, my business has slowed down and now I have time to do my first love; sharing my quilting passion with others.

I love teaching. I find that I learn more from the students than I give them! Very rewarding.

I can handle 20 - 30 students in my classes. I like to have a cutting station and a pressing station outside the classroom, if the space permits.

My teaching style is to break the ice by having everyone introduce themselves by telling us a NON-quilting-related thing about themselves and show us their fabrics.

I give an overview of our project and show my samples/quilts. We go over the book/handout/etc.

I demo all cutting and all sewing techniques - step by step with students taking notes. Then let the students work at their own pace.

I walk the classroom giving help and encouragement as needed.

I encourage all to have fun. I usually give out little prizes all day (or weekend) until everyone has a present. I take a picture of every one's quilt -- with their face if they will let me!

I am a retired nurse so in class we take BREAKS and do shoulder rolls and stretches. I sometimes give neck massages.
