Peg Bingham - Akron, Ohio

Peg BinghamMy fascination with quilts and quilting started in 1977, while studying Clothing & Textiles in college. Along with writing a research paper on the history of quilting and quilting techniques, I made my first machine quilted bed quilt. At that time, machine quilting was practically unheard of, but I quickly became hooked! I have been quilting fanatic ever since! Using the sewing machine to produce beautiful and usable art brings me tremendous joy and satisfaction.

My portfolio includes over 150 pieces; both contemporary and traditional styles, all personally machine pieced and quilted. Many of these pieces have received a variety of ribbons and honors. Drawing from my professional expertise in conducting technical workshops and computer seminars, I have developed and taught several quilting workshops for private guilds, quilt shops, and quilting retreats. My emphasis is on classes that stretch the beginner while satisfying the experienced quilter.

My love of all things Celtic has resulted in development of my own pattern line of pieced Celtic Knot designs, called Peg's Patches. These designs are unique and like nothing else available, featuring easy construction coupled with stunning results! Each pattern booklet includes pieced Celtic knot motifs that weave and link and appear to knot together. These patterns are fun, easy and have proven to be very popular. The instructions are clear and thorough; insuring that all the quilters feel confident that they can complete the projects and produce beautiful art of their own.

To augment my quilting passion, currently I am pursuing my Masters degree in Clothing and Textiles at the University of Akron. My husband, Mike, and I reside in Bath, OH with our two college-age sons.
